Examples of Work:

One of my favourite pieces of work from Roy is his pop art creation of Marilyn Monroe.

I love the way her face is constructed and their is still detail of her hair and her make up and her beauty spot. She makes a very good pop art cartoon.
I also love the way that the quote fits in with the background of the design which is a picture of the Empire State building.

The colours are bold where need be, such as the outline of her body and some of her facial features to make her stand out, especially her strands of her to make it look for defined and detailed.
The use of imagery reflects the theme well and the background is of the Empire State building in New York and a Marilyn is speaking about how she doesn't mind living in a mans world, as long as she can be a women in it and do as she pleases just as well as men do what they please.
The first thing my eyes are drawn too is the speech bubble because I want to know what she's thinking and why she is posed like that.

Quotes

Here are some of my favourite quotes from Roy that I have researched and stand out for me:

"Pop art looks out into the world. It doesn't look like a painting of something, it looks like the thing itself"

"I'm not really sure what social message my art carries, if any. I don't really want it to carry one, I'm not interested in the subject matter to try to teach society anything, or to try and better our world in any way"

"i don't think that I am over his influence but they probably don't look like Piccaso's; Picasso himself would probably have thrown up looking at my pictures"
